“Everyone dreams of being a superhero, well Prohormones are the closest legal option available”
If you’re looking to pack on mass and really get into peak shape for the summer season, there’s really only one conclusive supplement everything seems to lead to; prohormone supplements. All over the net, and in gyms around the country, prohormones are touted as some of the single most powerful muscle-builders around.

If you ever want to achieve that clean highly muscle frame then you’re going to need Prohormones
While it’s true that prohormones are a true force to be reckoned with when it comes to building bulk and increasing strength, it’s also true that they are definitively not for beginners. If you’ve recently started doing ten push-ups a day, it is NOT the time to buy prohormones. This is advanced stuff, and as such you need to take it cautiously and at your own risk.
For those wanting to purchase prohormones straight away, then we would advise clicking on the below link, otherwise, continue reading and learning more about Prohormones to give you an advanced understanding of what Prohormones are and how they can benefit you and your bodybuilding regime:

What Are Prohormones?
“Imagine a tablet or drink that can massively increase your strength and muscle mass – that’s what Prohormones do, but there can be costs”
At the core, what actually is a prohormone, and what constitutes one? Let’s start with that great bastion of internet wisdom, Wikipedia. The prohormone definition there talks about androgen prohormones being the hormone version of an anabolic-androgenic steroid, but what does this mean?
Prohormones are basically just compounds, which when converted by an enzymatic process within the body, become anabolic hormones. These anabolic hormones then produce the same powerful effects as anabolic steroids, while side-stepping some of the unpleasant side-effects, but at an admittedly slower rate.
The potency is limited by the rate at which your body converts the prohormone, which becomes a bit of a bottleneck, especially when compared to the instantaneous and increasable elements of traditional anabolic steroids, however, due to their reduced side-effects, you can use them safer for longer.
Science has gone a bit beyond this older model of prohormones, which requires enzyme conversion in the body, to create compounds which while similar, don’t require any kind of conversion. There’s a lot of different products and compounds out there, as well as prohormone reviews, letting you know which are best, but they all work along the same basic lines.
Why Were Prohormones Developed?
“Remember the former GDR winning hundreds of medals at the summer Olympics? Guess what helped them!”
Here’s a brief history of prohormones. One of the most well-known, documented and researched prohormones, Androstenedione, was created way back in the late 1960’s and 1970’s, by German scientists, specifically for the purpose of improving the physical and athletic abilities of their national Olympians.

As you can see women using hormones to alter their strength and muscle mass tends to alter their appearance as well.
So right from the beginning, prohormones were created with the express purpose of boosting muscle growth and athletic prowess. They are a long-used option when it comes to muscle-building supplements, which means there’s plenty of studies done on them, and they’ve been thoroughly documented and researched. Androstenedione was eventually banned from many sports in the 1990’s, but variations are still very popular today.
They were later introduced to the wider supplement world by the renowned American chemist, Patrick Arnold, who’s credited with putting prohormones where they are today. Used heavily in the 1990’s by baseball legends like Mark McGwire, it’s this sudden popularity, and successful use, that once under the spotlight, quickly saw legislation being brought in to limit the original prohormones within sports.
After the original Androstenedione was quickly eclipsed by other, more effective prohormones, it wasn’t long till there were options around which were as or more effective than traditional anabolic steroids. The trouble with this explosion of unregulated, untested prohormones hitting the market? In certain cases, dire side-effects.
Now, twenty years on, we’ve come to understand and study the effects and potential reactions to different prohormones, and some of the options available today boast little to no side-effects while maintaining an efficacy near that of anabolic steroids.
Who Should Use Prohormones?
“NB – the first thing to note about Prohormones is that should only be taken by males older than 21, anyone younger than that will naturally have high levels of testosterone anyway.”
Prohormones are used predominantly by bodybuilding athletes, due to their anabolic muscle building benefits. When weighed up against the generally illegal, side-effect heavy anabolic steroids, prohormones become a vastly superior option, there are some side-effects to take into account, however.
Generally speaking, if you’re a mid to advanced skill bodybuilder, who is looking to push up to the next level in terms of size, lifting ability, recovery time, drive, prohormones can prove beneficial and helpful, but with so many varied options out there, it can come down to finding the perfect option for you. What you need is a prohormone that works well with your body, while providing mitigating side-effects, and showing noticeable benefits.
Who shouldn’t be using prohormones? Casuals, in essence. If you’re not that into bodybuilding, and you aren’t truly an athlete, it’s not a good idea to start taking supplements aimed at more advanced bodybuilders. It’s not a shortcut or a magic pill, it’s a supplement to hard work, and without that underlying structure, and you’ll simply be enjoying the side-effects without the potential benefits. If you want to be a pro bodybuilder, there’s a path you have to follow, you can’t just jump straight to the finish line.
What Do Prohormones Do To Your Body?
“Have you seen the Incredible Hulk? This is but a glimpse of his abnormal powers”
The first thing to note is that there are a lot of different types of prohormones out there, each with slightly different effects, and varied degrees of side-effects. Research is the key to finding the best options for your goals, and health.
Prohormones can be a hugely powerful tool when it comes to pushing yourself towards a few more pounds of muscle or struggling up to that next lifting plateau. Finding yourself stuck when it comes to progress in your bodybuilding can be hugely frustrating, and finding an option like prohormones which can help you push over the precipice, and start building muscle again can be hugely beneficial.
But like any supplement out there on the market today, there are risks and prohormone side effects, do not forget. Prohormones are hepatotoxic, meaning they’re very taxing and damaging to the liver. They’re also known to sometimes raise cholesterol and blood pressure.
Some of the potential side-effects are pretty straightforward to reduce and mitigate. When it comes to aspects like cholesterol and blood pressure, changing your diet, doing a little more cardio or drinking less can have powerful effects. When it comes to less obviously curable side-effects, like the ones on your liver, you can take natural compounds like milk thistle or green tea to help your liver deal with things.
Hawthorne berries can help deal with blood pressure and circulation. Cycle support supplements can help take care of the liver, blood pressure and cholesterol, and there’s a lot of healthy, natural options out there.
Top Prohormones – A Guide To The Top 8
As a result of the 2004 Anabolic Steroid Act, there had been a large change in the direction of how Prohormones were to be made and manufactured to ensure that all Prohormones were now compliant with the governing rules and regulations set out within that Act. Consequently, there are now several products that have been marketed and used since 2005 that are favoured among bodybuilders and athletes that are very popular today.
Here is a list of common types of Prohormones that will provide excellent results when combined with a solid training regime, high levels of protein consumption and careful use of both minerals and vitamins that limit the damage while using Prohormones and suitable Post Cycle Therapy supplements:
Androtest (Cyclo-4-Androstenediol)
Androtest has been created by Fusion Supplements and is thought to be one of, if not the most effective and sort after Prohormones on the market today. The base compound is 4-Androstenediol, which is delivered using a system of cyclodextrin increases the potency of the first generation of Prohormones that utilised 4-Androstenediol in the early 2000’s.
Androtest will convert directly into testosterone, suitable for users of Anabolic Steroids who prefer to ingest rather than to inject directly into their muscles. Androtest is a non-methylated Prohormone, which means it will not harm the liver in the same way as methylated Prohormones.
Based on the reviews of users of this product, you will need to consume 5-6 tablets a day to provide 500-600mg of testosterone enanthate per week and the majority of those users experienced positive results using Androtest.
Effects of Using Androtest
Once inside the body Androtest converts into testosterone and therefore will provide the user with extremely quick muscle gains and strength increases. The absorption method of using cyclodextrin allows for optimal absorption rates of the compound 4-Androstenediol, which means that this Prohormone can be stacked with other Prohormones for even greater muscle and strength gains.
Side Effects of Androtest
Out of all the Prohormones that are available on the market today, this is one of the options that it provides a lot more upsides to possible downsides, in fact, there aren’t a lot of negatives with this Prohormone, provided of course you choose a suitable PCT course such as an estrogen blocker.
Havoc (2a-3a-epithio-17a-methyl-5a-androstan-17b-ol)
Although Androtest can be considered a ‘starter’ Prohormone, for those wanting to experience additional gains then you can consider stacking Havoc as an additional Prohormone that will increase the strength gains and the muscle mass gains you’re likely to experience when using it.
If you’re looking for Prohormone that is deemed a high strength anabolic supplement, then look no further than RPN Havoc. It is primarily a Prohormone that will increase muscle mass then possibly exhibiting the androgenic effects of higher sex drive and the development of gynecomastia. Havoc has been known to find that Havoc also contains anti-estrogen properties, which are beneficial for bodybuilders.
As this is a stronger Prohormone, you should certainly consider looking into using a good set of post cycle therapy supplements to counteract the increases in Estrogen. While taking Havoc we would recommend that you also consume a good quantity of Milk Thistle and continue using this during your PCT protocol.
Effects of Using Havoc
What you’re likely to experience when using Havoc is that after a period of 4-6 weeks during the cycle you’re body will have a lot more lean muscle to its frame and less body fat. You will find that your physique will appear ‘dryer’ than using other Prohormones simply because of Havoc containing anti-estrogen properties. This is a highly recommended product and has received exceptionally good reviews.
Side Effects of Using Havoc
Although this compound is highly recommended as a suitable Prohormone that will undoubtedly increase your muscle strength and mass it will not raise your testosterone levels as high when using Androtest, but you can combine both Prohormones to create a very effective stack. There is a possibility of the general negative side-effects that you can experience when using any sort of Prohormone, but you are able to minimise the extent to which you notice these changes provided you take suitable estrogen blockers and a good PCT.
Halodrol (4-chloro-17a-methyl-1, 4-diene-3,17 diol)
Halodrol is an ideal cutting Prohormone that can be utilised a before the build-up to a competition or before you head off to the beach in the summer. One bottle will be enough to supply you with 60 days worth of tablets which are to be taken orally. This hormone was introduced after the steroid Turinabol was banned and pro-bodybuilders wanted a safe alternative.
Fusion Supplements have created a supplement that is now suitable for beginners who are wanting to enhance their image before a competition, with a daily supplement that provides solid gains, while help reduce body fat.
As with all Prohormones, we would recommend that once you’ve completed your cycle of Halodrol you then move use post cycle therapy for at least 6 weeks.
Effects of Using Halodrol
Per serving, this is a cost-effective solution to those looking to reduce body fat while gaining a lot of muscle mass. You will likely increase your muscle mass and strength, while also experience low levels of oestrogenic effects. This Prohormone is generally taken to aid in the preservation of muscle mass.
Side Effects of Using Halodrol
As with any Prohormone supplement, there is the danger that you can cause additional stress to the liver and the way to avoid this is to consume milk thistle while on your cycle and then a solid PCT protocol. This has been known to raise the blood pressure of users, so monitor that while using this product.
Liquidien: (17 hydroxyestra-4,9-dien-3-one)
For those that have injected testosterone directly into their muscles before they will be aware that this is the most potent method of increasing muscle mass and strength gains when compared to using an oral prohormone. The reason is that the prohormones are placed in direct contact with the muscles that they are intended to build and there is no loss of effectiveness when compared to ingesting an oral Prohormone.
That is what Liquidien does, it is a topical Prohormone that is applied directly to the muscles that are to be worked out, exactly in the same way that anabolic steroid users inject steroids directly to the muscles, or muscle groups that are to be worked out that day.
Liquidien is then absorbed very quickly directly onto the muscles, improving vascularity and offering zero percent of the Prohormone to be converted to Oestrogen.
Because this is a dry prohormone, it can be stacked with other oral Prohormones ideally to be used when you are an advanced user of Prohormones. Liquidien is applied to the skin and is absorbed gradually throughout the day. It is an advanced Prohormone that will lead to rapid muscle growth and strength gains.
Effects of Using Liquidien
A single container will contain enough for 30 days, and in that time users are expected to see huge gains in muscle mass and strength, more so than using oral Prohormones on their own. There are no estrogenic negative side effects when using this liquid Prohormone as Liquidien does not convert to estrogen. Nearly all of the users of this Prohormone reported far higher gains in muscle mass and strength when compared to taking oral Prohormones on their own and highly recommend this product.
Side Effects of Using Liquidien
As there is no conversion to oestrogen this product is highly sorted after for those that are advanced bodybuilders who look to gain lean muscle mass and avoid the negative aspects of consuming Prohormones. The main negative aspect of taking Liquidien is that does seem to heavily suppress natural production of testosterone and because of this, you will need to make sure that you take a thorough PCT.
Protodrol
Some Prohormones are considered to be more toxic and harmful to the liver than others, this is why iForce Nutrition has developed a Prohormone that delivers high levels of anabolic ingredients and lower levels of toxicity. Protodrol will then provide the users with high levels of gains with muscle size, strength and vascularity with minimal negative side-effects.
In addition to the muscle gains, users are going to experience, they will also notice their fat levels dropping and having a leaner body composition than other oestrogen Prohormones.
This product is considered a ‘beginner’ Prohormone, considering the low levels of toxicity and the limited amount of negative side-effects that are expected, but there should be no reason anyone under the age of 21 should consider using Prohormones. The body will produce naturally high levels of testosterone in the vast majority of men up until the age of 30-35, so to take additional Prohormones prior to turning say 25 doesn’t make sense, unless you’re planning to compete at the premier worldwide bodybuilding events.
Effects of Using Protodrol
Given that Protodrol will increase lean muscle mass, as well reduce the percentage of body fat, then it is ideal to use this product if you’re beginner into Prohormones and want to take your bodybuilding to the next level, above what is found using Protein and Creatine on their own. That said, users find this product to be more than satisfactory when using it and have experienced very little side-effects while using it.
Side-Effects of Using Protodrol
There are very little side-effects when using this Prohormone, although to be safe with any Prohormones that you intend to use for your own benefit, we would recommend that you do still pursue a basic PCT cycle.
Nanodrol: (2,17a-dimethyl-5a-androsta-1-en-17-ol-3-one)
As with all muscle building products there will always be some products that are far more potent than others, but with that comes the inherit additional risk associated with higher potential gains. With Nanodrol, you find yourself faced with the strongest Prohormone supplement available on the market today.
In fact, this product is considered so strong that it comes with a warning that it is only to be used by experienced Prohormone users who have been using Prohormones for a couple of years and are fully aware of the importance of using a strong PCT regime.
When using this product you need to be making sure that you’re consuming very high levels of protein in combination with an intense training schedule to runs in conjunction with your cycle.
This prohormone is a topical prohormone that is applied directly to the skin and can then be combined with an oral prohormone to maximise the potential gains from a very strong cycle. Nanodrol is more potent, mg for mg than capped methylstenbolone products. But because of the sheer strength of this product, IT IS NOT recommend to cycle this product with other methylated prohormones.
If you’re considering stacking this product with other Prohormones, then we would recommend either Androtest, which will enhance your mood and sexual libido as well as aiding in adding a lot more muscle and strength to your body.
If you are considering stacking this Prohormone with another Prohormone then we would thoroughly recommend that you maximise any cycle support that protects your liver, and not just use milk thistle.
Pay close attention to your PCT when using this product, make sure it is as strong as possible and is run for the same duration as the length of time that you’ve run the Nanodrol cycle.
Effects of Using Nanodrol
You’ll get the double whammy of huge muscle mass gains in combination with drops in body fat percentages that can easily prep you for a competition or a summer vacation.
Side-Effects of Using Nanodrol
Despite the positive effects of using Nanodrol and the amount of potential muscle mass and body fat reduction you’re likely to receive (this is assuming that you are training heavily and that you’re consuming a lot of carbohydrates and protein), there is a negative to using Nanodrol. The levels of toxicity in your liver will be a lot higher and this is to be used by Prohormone users who are used to the effects of using them.
Cynostane: (2-cyano-17a-methyl-17b-hydroxy-androst-3-one – 10mg)

One of the milder Prohormone options ideal for those looking to reduce body fat and gain a little muscle
If you’re interested in Prohormones but aren’t sure of which one to take and start using, then Cynostane is one that you should consider. It is milder than most other Prohormones and users have reported very little side-effects as well as a fast recover post cycle.
Cynostane has been designed as a modern version of Prohormones that will enable users to gain suitable amounts of muscle while looking to lose an amount of unwanted body fat.
Anyone who has had experience in bodybuilding and has worked out solidly for a minimum of two years and found that they have certainly gained muscle, using a good diet, solid training regime, high levels of protein and creatine might find that they still cannot shift unwanted fat.
Here is the solution to your issue, a mild Prohormone that is ideal for ‘Recomping’, it has a high ratio of anabolic properties in relation to androgenic properties and shows very little side-effects.
Effects of Using Cynostane
The compound for Cynostane is a highly anabolic compound that has very low androgenic properties and as such will provide solid muscle gains for users. It is non-aromatizing so will therefore not produce any potential estrogen side-effects when being consumed. This product is ideal for those that are seeking to reduce body fat composition while increasing and maintaining body muscle percentages.
Side-Effects of Using Cynostane
Cynostane produces the lowest levels of blood lipids, liver toxicity levels are not changed and there is no evidence that it will produce any androgenic effects on users. This is really the ideal Prohormone for new users, is simply those that are happy with the results and feel they have no need to increase the strength of the prohormones that they take to increase muscle or maintain a particular body shape.
XI-KT (11-Ketotestosterone)
The last of the top eight Prohormones that we’ve looked at in this article is called XI-KT and is based on the compound 11-Ketotestosterone, which functions as a male sex hormone in fish but in humans an androgen prohormone aimed at increasing muscle mass for those that use it. One of its aspects is that it will lower the levels of cortisol within your body, which in turn will reduce body abdominal fat. Thus XI-KT is a solid choice for those wishing to produce a ‘cut’ body that appears with far reduced body fat.
XI-KT is applied topically to your chest, shoulders, neck or upper back daily and is not to be swallowed. It will help the user develop higher levels of muscle mass and strength, but its primary function is to reduce body fat, especially abdominal fat.
Although this product could easily become addictive, it does advise that you discontinue using it after 6 weeks.
Effects of Using XI-KT
If you looking for a that will burn off the abdominal fat and keep your body in an anabolic state at the same time then 11-ketotestosterone is certainly a supplement to consider.
Side Effects of Using XI-KT
There are not known side effects for this compound and you do not need to have PCT regime, more to the fact that XI-KT is generally used by bodybuilders to reduce thier body fat in a ‘cutting’ stage of the competition preparation.

How are Prohormones Different to SARMs?
While prohormones work via you taking a compound, which is then converted by enzymatic processes in the body to produce a powerful muscle building effect, SARMs work slightly differently. SARMs bind to your body’s cell’s androgen receptors, and from there convert hormones into more effective hormones for building muscle mass. However, while there’s a clear difference in operation, there’s one clear winner when it comes to SARMs vs prohormones.
While SARMs reportedly have fewer side-effects to worry about, and therefore less need to take PCT like milk thistle, they’re also notably less-effective when it comes to building bulk when compared to typical prohormone results. If you’re slightly more worried about the potential side-effects of prohormones and want to make absolutely sure you’re not risking any elements of liver, heart or cholesterol damage, you might go for SARMs, but you need to be aware that they simply aren’t as effective.
On top of that, either option can be used totally safely providing you do plenty of research, and keep a close eye on what your body is telling you. Read up on all the different advice and tips on forums too, don’t presume you’re above anything because you’re young, fit and healthy now.
What Are The Positive Side-Effects In Taking Prohormones?
“If you’re wise and take all the precautions, then Prohormones are a very effective method of adding a lot of muscle and strength.”
The first question is always going to be ‘do prohormones work?’ Well, just look at all the success stories dotting the net. But beyond adding those extra inches to your biceps, or those extra pounds to your deadlift, what are some other potential benefits you can expect from taking prohormones? Side-effects aren’t always a bad thing!
Traditionally, one of the big worries about taking supplements to bulk up is its potential impact on sex drive. Where’s the fun in being all huge and muscular if you’ve no desire to reap the benefits with the ladies? Prohormones are actually known to do the opposite, they noticeably boost your sex drive.
Another great benefit is faster athletic recovery. What athlete hasn’t found themselves frustrated by their body’s slow recovery from exercise? Prohormones have been found to cut that recovery time way down, so you can be back working out in no time.
Have you ever felt self-conscious about your beard? Ever wanted thicker, fuller, more Viking-like facial hair? Well, that’s something prohormones can help out with too. Many users have reported faster growing and better-looking beards. So you’ll be huge, muscular and bearded, you’re basically becoming Thor.
Lastly, there’s a welcome benefit to most men who feel less than comfortable with their voice. Using prohormones to bulk up can actually deepen your voice! Every guy out there knows that having rumbling, bass tones are sexier, more masculine and more powerful, and prohormones can help give you that.
So to recap, you get to hit your strength goals, bulk up a ton, have the best sex of your life while coming across as utterly manly with a thick beard and deep voice. What’s not to love?
What Are The Negatives In Using Prohormones?
“There will always be risks, it’s about minimising them – use all the recommended counter supplements and certainly avoiding drinking alcohol while cycling”
Having said all that, I’d be remiss to not note down the potential negative side-effects of using prohormones. Like any supplement, the more powerful and effective the supplement, the higher the likelihood of causing side-effects. For the most part, should you stick to recommended dosages and use plenty of healthy, natural supplements that offer prohormone cycle support and a solid PCT throughout, you should be fine, but there are inherent risks to your liver and heart.

You only have one Liver, so look after it!
Prohormones can raise your cholesterol and blood pressure, which can put a direct strain on your heart. On top of that, you’ve got the fact that almost all prohormones are hepatotoxic, meaning they will damage your liver cells. Both these issues can be mitigated with the right PCT and natural supplements, taken alongside prohormones. The biggest drawback at that point becomes the cost. Take the right things, in the right dosages and hold off on drinking. Drinking while taking prohormones is a recipe for disaster, due to the combined strain on your liver.
On top of those more serious concerns, some users have reported dizziness and nausea, headaches, breast enlargement and hair loss. While these aren’t great, you can reduce the risks, and keep an eye on them, and if you’re doing everything safely and logically, you’ll be fine.
Reviews of Users Who’ve Taken Prohormones
“Learn from others. Those that have experienced taken Prohormones before”
For all of our reviews of the products we mention on our website we will either test out the products ourselves and give a first-hand review, such as the extended review of the fleshlight, or we will look to find authentic reviews to give you a rounded perspective of what you’re likely to experience when using the products yourself.
In this case, we’ve not tested out prohormones so we shall endeavour to provide suitable reviews of previous users:
“Andro
This does help with the lethargy on ph cycle but the price is a bit ridiculous. To make it even worth while you need to be dosing at 375mg ED so at minimum one bottle will last you 30 days. Good for test base with a small amount of water retention when running with epi.” – Chach, review of Androtest
“Androtest – This Product Works!
Decided to add this to my cycle of Havoc. Normally run havoc alone with great results but wanted to see what difference a Test base would make and had read some excellent reviews. Because of the price I was only able to run 3 caps per day in order that my cycle lasted 4 weeks. Even at this low dose, i got the results I wanted! Basically, I find Havoc suppressive esp in sex drive and aggression. With this, I woke up raring to go (if u know what I mean) every morning! I would really like to run it at a higher dose and see its full potential. But 100% can confirm this product works. Only 4 stars due to price.” –
Tom, review of Androtest
“Gains!
Stacked this with Havoc for 5 weeks, did almost full dose since the start and I noticed a huge strength increase as well as looking swole, took about 2 weeks before results started showing off. Gained 5 kgs mostly muscle mass” – Robin, review of Androtest
“Best test pf ever
“Wtf I feel horny all day, lol sorry about that expression! It makes me feel stronger, no pain, no side effects. All its OK!” – Dav, review of Androtest
“Very potent with crazy gains!
This is my first ever prohormone and I must admit was a risky move as this is one if not the strongest prohormones there is in the market. I more or less just finished my 4-week cycle and gained over 10lbs. I was already very lean before taking this supplement and have become even more vascular and broader and to further prove it I have had a lot of attention from my increase in tone and mass which is always a great boost! As far as sides go I only really only noticed an increase in oils on my face which causes a minor increase in acne but luckily I had strong prescription acne cream from when I was a teen and that fixed that issue. I experienced no gyno or any noticeable bloat but towards the end of my cycle, my libido was weird as I experience short-lived highs and low’s. Now that I’m on my pct that has now gone and so far I have not lost any gains as I’m working out at the same frequency and taking 3x 500cal bulk shakes a day. And a word of advice; avoid all alcohol on this supplement! I was in a sticky situation where I gave in to having a few drinks. Normally I can handle a good drink but the hangover the next day was not worth mentioning, don’t do it! Overall I’m very impressed, don’t think ill do it again as this was more of an experiment for me but if mass gains are what you need this is perfect for you!”
– Alex, a review of Nanodrol
As you can imagine there are a lot of positive reviews that are available from the Predator Nutrition Prohormone section, but you can also find some negative reviews of some other prohormone products, whereby the side effects are stronger than the gains, here are a sample of negative reviews:
“Personally Got nothing from it
No extra strength
No benefits at all which is a shame
I was edgier than anything on this
I wouldn’t do it again” – Scott, reviewing Sup3R-EPI
“Skeptical
To be honest I was skeptical from get go as the absorption rate on the body when u look into it ni on impossible to break through as let’s be honest that’s how our body’s are designed to work yer ok may b able to penetrate the first few layers but it won’t actually get into the body so did I achieve much on this…I don’t believe I did but I wouldn’t knock it until u have tried it as I did ” – Turb, reviewing 11 KT Spray.

Are Prohormones Illegal and If So, In What Countries?
As negative publicity exploded, and several early iterations of prohormones were found to cause altogether too many side-effects and problems, as well as the problem of doping within sports, prohormones fell victim to their own efficacy, as well as lack of quality control and testing, and were quickly made illegal in many countries. That’s back in the late nineties. There’ve been numerous waves of new, more effective, and safer prohormones since those first options, but in spite of this, many have still been banned.
Nowadays, with the current crop of prohormones, the focus has never been more on safety, efficacy and quality control. Currently, there are plenty of prohormones available to legally buy and use in most countries around the world. From the UK to the US and the majority of Europe and the rest of the world, at any given time there is a fair selection of quality prohormones available to legally buy.
Generally, there are sporadic bans on prohormones, but with the way they’re improving, as well as becoming more popular, other better options quickly rise up to take the place of the newly illegal ones.

Methylated Prohormones Verses Non-Methylated Prohormones
As a rule, methylated prohormones are heavier on the liver, and can cause huge damage if you don’t employ an effective and conservative cycle pattern, as well as plenty of PCT and health supplements.
Liver damage is really nothing to joke about, and even if you’re in rude health, in your early twenties, you need to be thinking about how you can mitigate the risks. With methylated prohormones higher risks of liver damage come something else as well; they’re slightly more effective for building muscle when compared to non-methylated options.
However, due to their inherent risks and the safety steps you need to take, it can make a lot more sense to just use non-methylated prohormones a little heavier, rather than the more dangerous alternative. It’s all about finding what works for you, your health, your body and your wallet because once you’ve paid for the prohormones themselves, adding on various other natural supplements to reduce side-effects can quickly escalate the overall price.
How Long Should You Use Prohormones, What Cycle Duration?
When it comes to how long you should be using your prohormones for, and dosages, there’s no steady rule of thumb, aside from following common wisdom, and the instructions. Generally speaking, most prohormones dosages range from 20mg per day, all the way up to 100mg a day, which translates for the most part into either one or two caps per day.
In terms of cycles and cycle duration, you’ve really got two options; long or short cycles. When it comes to other, more traditional bodybuilding supplements, many athletes employ cycles in the 6 weeks to 8 weeks range. With prohormones, however, due to the fact they’re taken orally, rather than via any other method, they get to work much faster. Many users report gains within the first week. This means you don’t have to go through the usual cycle length, waiting for them to reach the places they need to be in your body, and getting to work. Prohormones are vastly quicker, so you can shorten the cycle significantly.

Plan You Prohormone Cycles according to Your lifestyle
By going with either 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, or 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off, you can enjoy all the benefits and gains, while minimising risks of side-effects and other issues. One of the main things to consider is your choice of prohormone in particular. Depending on which brand and type you’ve gone with, it makes sense to do a little extra research to make sure you’re responsibly using whatever prohormone you’ve decided to go with. For instance, methylated prohormones can be a little harder on the liver, so consider using a shorter, safer cycle, like 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off, for instance.
It’s all about being sensible and knowing your stuff. It’s not good being muscular if you aren’t healthy enough to enjoy it, and just because you’re young and vital now doesn’t mean you shouldn’t worry about the side-effects.
After Using Prohormones, What Should You Use To Recover?
When it comes to using prohormones effectively and totally safe, you really need to think about natural supplements and an effective PCT (post cycle therapy), because using prohormones can be very hard on your body.
When you use prohormones, the levels of androgens drops throughout the body, due to the external hormone influence. That means that once your prohormone cycle is at an end, and that external hormone influence disappears, your body is left in a bit of a lurch, with your natural testosterone levels inhibited, and oestrogen running above baseline. If this is allowed to run its course, you’ll lose a large chunk of your gains. You need to get everything returned to natural levels, so your gains become permanent.

Milk Thistle Extract – this combats the effects of using Prohormones on your liver
The biggest issues beyond the loss of gains are developing breasts due to high oestrogen levels, prostate swelling, blood pressure and cholesterol. What you want to be taking is supplements like milk thistle, which protects and heals the liver. There are suitable estrogen blockers that are available to minimise the effects of consuming prohormones.
Other helpful options are Saw Palmetto, which can help with prostate swelling and issues, and nettle root. Nettle root acts as an anti-inflammatory, blood pressure regulator and can also help with prostate and urinary issues. Celery seed can help with joint pain, which can be an issue when finishing a cycle.
With those to go on, you should be aware that there is a multitude of different PCT options out there to help you counteract, fix and heal the more worrying effects of a prohormone cycle. You should do a PCT cycle for at least the same time as your prohormone cycle, preferably longer. The longer you’re away from the prohormones, the better your body is going to recover, and you can actually end up keeping more of your gains this way.
Can Women Use Prohormones?
Women have a whole different set of worries when it comes to bodybuilding supplements, they want to avoid the potent masculine effects of prohormones, including hair growth, voice deepening, hair loss, but keep the muscle building benefits. That means you want to search out a prohormone that’s more anabolic, and less androgenic than testosterone. You don’t want those male characteristics.

Perhaps a little too much fake suntan lotion has been applied here!
Women can definitely use prohormones to great effect, but much like with men, you need to be very aware of the risks and effects, and how to mitigate and reduce the ones you really don’t want. There are prohormones for women out there, though.
One of the biggest issues facing women who want to use supplements is the relatively low number of women bodybuilders. That means there’s a very real lack of even anecdotal evidence when it comes to women using prohormones. If you’re trying to push up to the next level as a female bodybuilder, it could be worth a try, but only if you understand how it works, and how to balance it.

That means that no matter what happens, you’re always going to be able to find alternative prohormones to continue your fitness and bodybuilding plan. There’s a lot of varied options out there to try out, so if you don’t want to use prohormones, there’s plenty of other options for boosting testosterone and muscle growth available, that will not alter your distribution of natural hormones within your body.
For information about the alternatives to Prohormones, which will provide natural testosterone opportunities and can be used as part of your Post Cycle Therapy when coming off a Prohormone Cycle:
What Are The Banned Prohormones?
Generally speaking, the banned prohormones are the ones that fell afoul of bad publicity, and sports doping. Some governments consider prohormones an extension of anabolic steroids, and the industries lack medical and quality regulation in times gone by made certain products a little risky.
It’s very straightforward to synthesise a molecularly similar alternative that isn’t illegal though, so governments are always playing catch-up, and there’s always plenty of legal hormones available. For the most part, prohormones are banned throughout almost all sports and can get you kicked out, barred and banned.
If you are unsure if your bottled Prohormones are on a banned list and you may have been sold something that is considered both dangerous and harmful, then you can consult the following list here, detailing current banned Prohormones – this originates from the 2004 Anabolic Steroid Control Act.
What Are The Best Options For You?
The answer to this question is highly subjective. Consider a novice of Prohormones, someone that has yet to use them at all and has only been bodybuilding for 2-3 years, then we would recommend that you this person take a milder type of Prohormone that lasts only 3-4 weeks, with a solid estrogen blocker taken from the beginning of the cycle to limit the potential negative side effects. Either Havoc or Androtest offers good choices as stand-alone Prohormones to take as beginners, make sure that they are then combined with suitable PCT estrogen blockers after the 4-week cycle. All first-time users can expect to see big gains, relatively speaking against previous supplements that have been used past, such as creatine powers, or protein powders.
If your an experienced user of prohormones, then you would need to stack a combination of Prohormones to see incremental gains for each cycle, as there will always be a maximum that you’re likely to reach with continued usage.
Whatever your choice is, we would recommend that you use an estrogen blocker after all prohormone cycles.
Supplement and Dietary Advice When Taking Prohormones
While taking any form of Prohormones, it is essential that you take good care of your diet and what fluid enters your body. We would heavily recommend that you DO NOT consume any alcohol at all while taking a prohormone cycle, and make sure that you’re consuming high levels of protein which your body will turn into lean muscle because of the additional testosterone in your body.
Providing that your existing diet is clean and contains lean meats, vegetables, fruit, suitable carbohydrates with preferential sugar intake post work-outs then you’ll be in good shape to start any prohormone cycle. However, there is an important factor when consuming prohormones that will certainly enhance your gains, you will need to increase the level of protein that you consume to at least 2g of protein per pound of bodyweight. For instance, if you weigh 250lb (113kgs) you need to be consuming over 500g of lean a protein a day, which is a lot of protein.
All of the Prohormones that we’ve recommended on this page are oral and because of this, we would recommend that you increase your level of water consumption and combine it with vitamins that aim to protect your liver, such as N-acetyl cysteine, Silymarin and a daily dose of 6g of fish oil.
Our Training Advice During and After Each Cycle
When using Prohormones, you will find that your muscle mass will increase rapidly and in turn, you feel that you can lift heavier weights. Although it is only natural to lift additional weights to see what your new maximum is for each lifting option, we would recommend that you look at the long-term growth by using Prohormones and therefore actually only slightly increase the weights while using Prohormones, but increase the number of times you actually train while on your cycle.
Once you’ve finished your cycle, you should then limit the number of workouts, but increase the weights that you try to lift. This will help keep cortisol levels to a minimum post cycle, enabling your body to keep as much of the gains in muscle and strength as possible.
Say, for instance, that your normal workout consists of 10 sets, then go to 20 sets during your cycle on Prohormones, and then while on your PCT reduce your sets to only 5 per workout session until you’re finished your post cycle estrogen blocker.
Conclusion
Modern Prohormones will undoubtedly provide your body with the hormones that are required to bulk up and reduce fat distribution throughout your body. However, there are known negative side-effects that each of the above Prohormones listed above could give you, it is your responsibility as an adult who has at least 3 years weightlifting experience to then decide on how to mitigate those inherent potential risks.
We hope that this article has been both educational and useful for those that are thinking about purchasing Prohormones for your own bodybuilding supplement cycles.
